The Edible Party Favors to Hand Out This Holiday Season

Are you hosting a New Year's Eve party this week? Let's talk party favors. While some see them as superfluous, we're in the camp that firmly believes otherwise. Sure, it's one more thing to add to the list of things to do to prepare for a party, but after the party is all said and done, a simple favor is what your friends and family will remember most about the party you worked hard to throw.

The best party favors are usually the easiest to make and of the edible variety. So if you're hosting a party this year, be that host that hands party favors out at the end of the night. Your guests will be impressed, and grateful. Plus, they'll have something to munch on the next morning to ease the headache from the party you threw the night before.

Chocolate Truffles

There aren't many people who don't like a rich, deep chocolate truffle. They're a bit more elegant than all that holiday bark and fudge you've handed out this year but just as simple to make. Place two in small folding boxes like these, each in their own mini paper muffin cup, and tie up the box with ribbon or baker's twine.

Muffins

One of our favorite restaurants in New York City sends each diner off with an individually wrapped muffin. It's a treat to enjoy the next morning, when you're reminiscing about the fun time you had the night before. Wrap them individually in clear cellophane gift bags tied with ribbon.

Granola

Baking up a batch of granola is another great idea. It's significantly better than any prepackaged granola you'll find on grocery store shelves and easy to make a large quantity of. Fill up small canning jars with your favorite recipe. Guests can sprinkle it on their morning yogurt or simply eat it straight out of the jar on their ride home.

Savory Shortbread

New Year's can sometimes feel like a bit of a downer. It signals the end of the holiday season and even though you may be completely exhausted from party overload, it's a bit sad to see all the fun die down. Savory shortbread are best eaten with a cocktail in hand. So a stack wrapped in a small gift box gives guests permission to enjoy another festive drink in the week that follows. Because, why not?
