Barrett to answer second trampling charge

Blues forward Kane Barrett has been cited for a second act of foul play during their Super Rugby loss to the Chiefs in Auckland.

Barrett was shown a red card for trampling Chiefs co-captain Craig Clarke in the 22nd minute of the match at Eden Park, which the Blues lost 26-16.

A review by of match footage by the citing commissioner revealed another incident of alleged trampling involving Barrett, in the 20th minute.

The commissioner alleged in a Sanzar statement that the 23-year-old made contact with Chiefs prop Ben Tameifuna and that it warranted a red card. It was not seen by matchday officials.

The citing will be considered by Sanzar judicial officer Nicholas Davidson.

Barrett, the older brother of All Black Beauden Barrett, was playing just his third game of the season for the Blues in the absence of injured blindside flanker Steven Luatua.
